Last night

I had the TV on, but I wasn't watching it. I was working on my computer, cleaning my apartment, and laying on the couch reading a book. Then I doze in and out, while the news came on.

I don't understand anything that was said, but I'm not really paying attention... until I close my eyes and I hear the words: "in other news, an eight year old child has been reported missing by her parents and the police are..."

Before I could snap my attention to the TV to confirm that I understood what the reporter said about a missing child, I opened my eyes. I was in my bed. It was a little dark.

I lay there, thinking about what I just heard. Looked at the time, it was 6:56 am... a few minutes before my alarm clock was due to go off. I crawled out of bed into the living room. The TV was off.

Sometimes I have a dream that I want it to be real, and not just a dream.
