So I actually talked on the phone

Am I on a blogging kick or what?

Just to see if I could do it, I talked to my mom on the phone twice the past week, the first time at my uncle's house in Dallas over Labor Day weekend. We kept the conversation simple, but I understood a good portion of what she said. A sample of our conversation went like this:

"Hello?"
"Hey mom, its me Nabeel."
"Hi Nabeel, this is Mom. How are you?"
"I'm fine, how about you?"
"I'm fine. Are you having fun there?"
"Yes I'm having a good time down here. So how's the weather up there?"
"It's nice and sunny."

And so on. I did miss some stuff, especially names of people and places, but for me this was a major step in progress!

When I make progress, I feel more motivated to practice more and to get even better. Right now, I'm watching Day After Tomorrow, which I've seen many times, but this time I listen to the dialogue with captions and at some point, I will watch it without caption and see how much I can understand.
