Loaner Hearing Aid

I just got a Phonak Naida V loaner hearing aid to wear for a month to see if I like it or if I really want another implant. I was, and still am, hesitant to get another implant on my left side because I feel it is too soon, and I don't see the logic in getting a second implant while I'm only starting to get used to the first implant.

My hope is that with the loaner hearing aid, I will start to localize sounds a little bit. I don't expect to hear better in noise, but if I can localize sounds, then I can live with a hearing aid for another few years and maybe I will revisit the decision to get a second implant.

There's also the chance that I won't like the hearing aid. If I don't like it, I don't plan on leaving my left ear to languish in uselessness. If that's the case, I may get a second implant as soon as this summer. But I rather wait and see.
